SAKI
KOYAMA
Born in Tokyo and growing up in Sydney and Singapore, Saki Koyama is a budding entrepreneur managing her socially driven jewelry business. She has passion for equality and human rights and believes that empowering youth to make change is critical to making the world a better place. She is the founder of Dose of Dignity and is a Youth Delegate of the UN Asia Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development 2025.
My Story
Growing up, she was an avid jewelry designer, with a love for connecting each bead onto a large piece of rope. When she was 11, she heard her school was hosting an annual ‘family festival’ - a school carnival with vendors selling food, toys, and snacks. Wanting to experiment with her designs to see the extent of customers her jewelry would attract, she signed her name onto the document of vendors, leaving blank the ‘company name’, ‘vendor number’, etc.
Although she wasn't too sure how this vending event would go, one thing she knew for sure was that she wanted to sell handmade bracelets that left some form of impact on someone. The 11-year-old Saki decided that her jewelry shop would be the perfect opportunity to donate to UNICEF, after having researched the organization during school. The day of selling was not what she had expected. Teachers, students, friends, and family came to support her business. Soon enough, all the bracelets were sold out.
Since then, Saki has continued building her brand Sakibelle Jewellery, and is continuing to expand her portfolio which currently exceeds 100+ designs. She’s opened a social page, website, and furthered collaborations with other brands and organizations.
To pursue her future interests, Saki is undertaking a dynamic and active approach with her time. Academically, she is challenging herself to expand her intellectual horizons, taking IB Higher Level Math AA, Economics, Biology, and Standard Level Global Politics, Spanish Ab Intio, and English LangLit. From an extracurricular perspective, she is a part of MUN, Chamber Ensemble, Investment Society and Trashion Environmental Initiative. She also works with the Government in Okayama, Japan to bring in tourism to rural areas and hosts cultural exchange programs.
In the long term, Saki hopes to become a social entrepreneur and create products and services that uplift marginalized communities and drive social good. To start this journey, she founded Dose of Dignity. Through a videocast series, public awareness campaigns, and partnerships with other NGOs, Dose of Dignity aims to restore the fundamental rights of children around the globe to be free of commercial exploitation through the 10-step PROTECTION Framework.
